Coverage: The cold had to hit us at -14 degrees this weekend, when QBP vendors and dealers from all over the world came out to Bloomington, MN for the annual Frostbike event. BMX Vendors set up tables and walls of product including Eastern, Snafu, Props, Primo, KHE, Answer, Profile, FBM, Kenda, Maxxis, Ceneca (Related to MacNeil), and many more.
Lots of new product was introduced at the show, including Eastern's new hub which uses nipples in the hub instead of the rim, providing less rotational weight. Eastern also has new titanium bars weighing in at about 22 ounces. As well as their 2lb titanium Grim Reaper frame which you may have seen Eric Holley testing for a few weeks. KHE has the first kevlar folding BMX tire which can take up to 2lbs off your bike. There is now a flatland, park, and street version available with different sidewall thicknesses. Props #59 will be available in the next few weeks featuring over 2 total hours of the Backyard Jam, Tree Bike Co Road Trip, Racine, WI Jam (Look for Brandon Morcomb and Brian Oestreich filmed by Deljon Willis), Last Call/Chenga Closing Contest (Look for Erik Holley and Dustin Griess), Red Bull Backyard Buildoff, Baco Jam, and much more.
On Saturday night, about 40+ riders showed up at JSAW skate park. Steve Crandall decided to swing on by, as well as Tony Cardona and a few of his friends only to shred the place. Scott Hess also came out from Fuzzy Hall's 50/50 BMX Shop in Utah.
The show wrapped up on Sunday and many people headed out of this frozen tundra.
Riding Highlights: At JSAW on Saturday night Tony Cardona was gapping the two rollers over the big euro gap/rail, jumping box lip into spine with tuck no handers, whips, and 360s. Him and his friends were trailing trains off the 6' quarter (next to the 8') over the 4' quarter into the roller with toboggans, turndowns, etc. Lots of the usual Saturday night session chaos went on as well.
